Leave of Absence

Effective July 1, 2024 – Leave of Absence is not available as an additional creditable service.  Any LOA time approved prior to the repeal will be honored as creditable service so long as all requirements are met.

Prior to July 1, 2024, members who were not yet vested could apply for a Leave of Absence.

Monthly dues must be paid for the leave period. Leave of absence cannot exceed 12 months.

Effective July 1, 2010, the member must return to law enforcement following the Leave of Absence. Service is creditable once matched with an equal amount of continued employment.
