Reinstatement

Members who are either terminated due to delinquent dues - OR - did not inform POAB of their return to law enforcement after employment change within 8 months have the opportunity to reinstate their account to Active Membership. Members have EIGHT MONTHS from the time of first delinquency to pay all dues owed without negatively affecting their service credit.

Cost to reinstate:

  • If the Member pays the delinquency within the 8-month window; they will receive service credit for the delinquent period, and will return to Active status. ($25 for each month delinquent up to 8 months) + ($45 reinstatement fee)
  • If the Member does not pay the delinquency within the 8-month window, the member will return to Active status as of the date on which they paid the outstanding dues ($25 for one month's dues + $45 reinstatement fee = $70).
    • These members have an opportunity to purchase the time lost during delinquency. Learn more on the Gap Service Page.
  • Members removed from active status have eight months to inform the Fund of employment changes to avoid losing creditable service. If they fail to inform POAB of a return to law enforcement within eight months, they may reinstate. ($25 for one month's dues + $45 reinstatement fee = $70).
    • These members have an opportunity to purchase the time lost during delinquency. Learn more on the Gap Service Page.

If you choose not to reinstate, you may wish to take a Refund.

It is the member's responsibility to see that dues are paid; regardless of the dues payment method.

Account delinquency does not exclude members on Payroll Deduction or Automatic Withdrawal.
