Military Service

The Fund grants creditable leave to active members called to military service AT NO COST. Active Duty Military service is creditable toward retirement benefits. Creditable service cannot exceed 5 years.

During such time, these members are not required to make payment of monthly dues.

These members must return to an Eligible Position within 6 months of their release date. There must be no other employment between military service and peace officer service.

Creditable Military Service requires documentation. Proof of service includes original Military Orders and Discharge Orders (copy acceptable).

Military service before joining the Fund is not eligible for service credit.
