Leave of Absence

Members who are not yet vested may apply for a Leave of Absence. The member must notify the Fund within 90 days of leaving Law Enforcement. They must also notify the Fund again within 30 days of returning to Law Enforcement. To request a Leave of Absence, complete and return the forms below. Once received, the Board of Commissioners reviews the application.

Once approved, the member must pay monthly dues during the leave period. Leave of absence cannot exceed 12 months.

Effective July 1, 2010, the member must return to law enforcement following the Leave of Absence. Service is creditable once matched with an equal amount of continued employment. No death benefits or disability benefits apply during the Leave of Absence.
